I was at church yesterday morning and was so impressed by a couple of families in the front row with children who were like little angels. What is the secret to getting little ones to behave in church? I would love to know. I prefer not to sit in the cry room because there is little or no control of children there. But Drew has a hard time sitting still and staying quiet, so it's a struggle to sit in the main church with him. Hopefully over time he will become more patient and willing to sit quietly in church.
Tricks I've come up with...
ReplyDelete1. Make it more pleasant to be quiet in church than to leave. When D was that age, he had to sit on my lap in the stairwell until he was quiet, then we got to go back inside. Going inside to be quiet was a treat compared with grumpy mommy.
2. Bribe him with donuts after mass.
3. Sitting in the front helps. They can see what the priest is doing instead of grown-up bottoms.
4. Stay out of the cry room. It's mayhhem in there. I don't even like to take Caroline in there if I can help it.
Good luck and have a blessed Christmas!
